I know, I know ... I'm a bad blogger. And this is a post that will probably be appreciated most by grandparents and aunts. But here goes ... some new photos showing what Simon has been up to.
Tonight, I made some cupcakes for Thanksgiving day. Mark's family is coming to our house. This will be our first time to host! Kind of exciting. Mark has the turkey already soaking in an Alton Brown brine recipe. And we're looking forward to watching the Purdue Marching Band in the Macy's Parade. I can't believe it's raining and storming on November 24 -- but I do like the sound of rain on the roof. Anyway, back to the cupcakes. Mark taught Simon how to lick the beaters ... he loved it!
And I copied this turkey design from a Betty Crocker ad that I saw. I didn't given them all of the details but I think that they still loook like turkeys!
This next photo is for Mimi (my Mom). She got Simon this vest for his birthday. He loves wearing it -- he holds his arms out and says, "look!" in a very excited voice. He must think it's pretty cool that his arms stick out.
We found these reindeer antlers in the $1 section at Target. Simon wore them on top of his baseball hat throughout the store. We almost forgot to pay for them!
Our preppy son ... does he look like a product of the 1980's or what?! Or maybe it's because his parents grew up in the '80s??? We thought it was funny that he chose to leave his collar turned up all day.
And this photo is for Aunt Debbie so she can see the outfit she got Simon for his birthday. He looks great in orange! And he apparently matches our kitchen too.

One of the many, many things that I love about Simon ... he pointed out this ride at the mall but he doesn't beg to ride it or get upset if we say no, or just one ride. He is not one to throw a tantrum. So that makes it all the more fun when we do let him ride something like this. Look at that grin! What a beautiful smile.
We've got some fun plans this weekend so I'll try to do another post soon. In the meantime, I hope that this will help our far away family and friends to get their Simon fix. : )

After lunch, it was time for a concert. Lily, Braylee and Simon had so much fun making music together! It was their idea to pull the chairs from the kitchen to the living room.
I ordered several crafts for us to do. Only one craft was opened -- the little kids really seemed to enjoy putting stickers on the Christmas trees.
Simon concentrates so much when working on a project.
After everyone left that day, we decided to go ahead and put up the Christmas tree. Unfortunately, Simon had a late nap, and a short one at that. You can see what he thought about putting up the tree.
But things got better when we gave him his Mickey Mouse ornament to hang on the tree. He's already broken the ornament twice. And it's been moved around the tree to a new location about 6 times.
By the time we were ready to add the star to the top of the tree, Simon had found his Christmas spirit.
With the colder weather, it reminded me that it was time to try on the sweater my Grandma made for Simon. So glad we did! The body fits him perfectly and the sleeves can be rolled up. Doesn't he look handsome?
Notice Simon's longer hair in the photo above. We tried to let it grow out to see if it would curl. It didn't. It just got more and more wavy and kind of fuzzy around the edges. So last night, Mark gave him a haircut. The two photos below were taken on Monday night. Sorry Papaw Ailor ... the long hair is gone. I wanted to put it in a baggy for you but Mark vetoed that idea.

I think that Simon really enjoyed his first Thankgiving. He especially liked playing with his cousins and his Uncle Scott. We'd like to thank Uncle Scott (insert sarcasm here) for teaching Simon the word "gross." At least 5 times a day, Simon will say "Uncle Scott says gross" and wipe his cheek when we give him kisses. The good thing is that Simon loves all of his aunts, uncles and cousins -- even when they teach him questionable things. : ) And we're grateful that so many people love Simon as much as we do. We're really excited to celebrate Christmas as a family of three. And as you can see from the stockings (or 'boots' as Simon says) hung on the fireplace, we're already really excited to add another little one to our family -- hopefully by next Christmas!
