Word of the Day: Biometrics

We received our letters from Homeland Security today! In other words, we got our appointment to be fingerprinted -- YES! Who would have ever thought we would be so happy about being fingerprinted by the US government? Actually, the word they use is 'biometrics.' We have an appointment to have our biometrics taken in Indy. (Sounds like we need to pee in a cup, doesn't it?? Ha!) Anyway, we are looking forward to Tuesday, January 27 when we'll make the trip to Indy for this important step in our adoption journey. Once we are fingerprinted, Immigration will do what they need to do and then send us our I-171 -- the last document we need for our dossier. Hopefully, our dossier will be on its way to Ethiopia by mid-February. We're keeping our biometrics, I mean our fingers, crossed. : )

In other news from the Ailor household, we enjoyed another delicious meal at Abyssinia in Indianapolis last night. We really enjoyed spending the evening with some new friends who are also adopting from Ethiopia. It was a very fun evening and we were so glad for the opportunity to get to know them better.

Today was an icy/snowy day but it didn't slow us down. We made a trip to the library to borrow books about Ethiopia in preparation for our first Ethiopia Night next Saturday. We then went to Lowe's so that Mark could pick out a paint color for his new studio. I love looking at all the colors and wish that I had the gumption to paint some of the brighter colors in our house -- there are so many fun colors to choose from! But, this time, Mark chose a lovely shade of tan -- Au Lait Ole to be exact.

After that, we traveled to the Sharp's house for a yummy chili supper -- the perfect meal for a cold and snowy day in my humble opinion. We always enjoy hanging out with Chris, Brian and Sean because we laugh alot and today was no exception. It was so nice to take a break from our Saturday chores. Tomorrow, if the weather cooperates, we are looking forward to another trip to Indy to welcome home the Ponsler's. Chris and Sarah return from Ethiopia tomorrow with their son. We are soooo excited to see them! They have been gone for a month and I'm sure they will have many stories to share.
