We've been debating for several months about whether or not to get a swing set for the backyard. Simon LOVES to swing! But with adopting again, we just couldn't bring ourselves to spend the money. And then on Friday, we got a lucky break. You see, the lease on our mini-van expires at the end of June. We had gone way over on the mileage and were expecting to have to pay a turn-in fee and the extra mileage fee. Thankfully, the local dealership decided to buy the mini-van which means that we don't owe a dime! Zip! Zero! Nothing. This helps our budget a lot. So, we decided to look again at buying a swing set, or 'playground' as Simon calls it. On Saturday, we found a nice, sturdy playground on sale! With thanks to our friend Brian for helping Mark to haul home the lumber, we now have a playground in our backyard. : ) It wasn't easy to find a level spot in our yard but Mark worked very hard at putting it together and settling it into the ground. Ta da! We know we're going to have many fond memories with this.

When I picked-up Simon from school today, I told him that Daddy had finished the playground and we could play on it when we got home. There was a loud "Cool!" shouted from the backseat. I think his face says it all ...

We only had to show him once how to climb the wall ... he got it himself on his second try!

He saw the sun shining on the slide and thought it would be hot. Smart boy! But we convinced him that plastic doesn't get hot like a metal slide.

And here's a glimpse of how fast the slide is! Probably a video to be most enjoyed by grandparents and aunts/uncles. : ) Enjoy!
